Soozal has been quite the journey for Keiran and Elizabeth Mulcahy after racing their previous yacht Astral very successfully out of the RPAYC for the past five years. With IRC in mind, Keiran and Elizabeth identified the Mark Mills designed King 40 Soozal from the West Coast of USA as an opportunity to race competitively in IRC nationally and at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. The yacht was named 2009 World Sailing Boat of the year, the Mulcahy family hope to replicate the yachts past winning ways.
Soozal was launched in November 2019 with a major refit prior to the 2019/2020 Sydney summer racing season. The boat will compete in this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart with three of the Mulcahy family aboard with the assistance of seasoned Hobart sailors. In between regattas you will find Soozal being cruised around the Hawkesbury River and Pittwater.
