Frantic

Team Frantic is looking forward to another Hobart tour this year having finished 29th overall last year. The crew is a solid mix of old and new, all having sailed many races and miles together since Martin purchased Frantic, formerly Strewth, in 2012, with Beynon Leask, Brendon Davies and Simon Hunter also sailing on Martin’s previous LMR Solar/Frantic, a Sayer 40. The 75th Sydney Hobart is a milestone race for a number of crew, with Mick Martin, Simon Hunter and Jane Roberts all competing in their 10th race and Courtney Smith in her first. In 2018 Frantic claimed line honours and smashed the race record for the revived Ponant Sydney Noumea race, finishing in 4 days 2hrs 23mins (taking 1 day 19hrs and 12mins off the original Brindabella’s 1991 record). Other notable results for Frantic was a win on IRC and ORCi in the 2013 Gosford-Lord Howe Island race. Frantic regularly competes on the newly established Australian TP52 circuit and uses those events as an opportunity to give young sailors a chance to sail on this class of boat against the pros.
