Enterprise

Enterprise

In her first Rolex Sydney Hobart, Enterprise finished 13th overall and second in Division 3 – the boat and crew’s season spent in Sydney paid big dividends with a first in IRC Division 2 of the Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore and Kirke being named CYCA’s 2018 Rookie of the Year at the Ocean Racer Awards. According to her owner, the boat is “a grossly over capitalised modified Farr 40.” In a play on the sci-fi Star Trek, we have (the Starship) Enterprise, and her captain, Anthony Kirke (rather than James Kirk). Dismasted locally in early 2017, Enterprise bounced back with some local WA wins. Refurbished and fitted with a new mast, combined with a Hugh Wellbourn redesigned keel and bowsprit, makes the boat a competitive offshore package. Enterprise should have good competition with fellow modified Farr 40, 2 Unlimited.
