Enchantress

Enchantress

Designed to be fast downhill by John Muirhead Enchantress won the Melbourne to Hobart West Coaster, with a top boat speed of 22 knots. Enthused by this win they entered the 2012 Rolex Sydney Hobart finishing 17th on IRC. Enchantress is sailed by her crew from South Australia to Sydney before heading to Hobart – a great way to test the boat and put some 1000 ocean miles away. In 2016, she finished 20th overall for fourth in Division 4; in 2015 she was in a leading position during the race when a third of the fleet retired after being hit by a southerly buster, ultimately finishing 23rd, when becalmed in the dying stages of the race.

This will be Enchantress's seventh Rolex Sydney Hobart and she will be for sale at the end of the race. Dr John Willoughby plans to concentrate on providing ongoing free cataract surgery which he has done since 1996 and hopes to deliver this service next year via catamaran to the peoples of Tonga and Tuvalu Islands in the Pacific Region.
