Free Bowl of Soup has come a long way for her first Rolex Sydney Hobart. The Club Swan 42 hails from Portland Yacht Club in Oregon and is co-owned by Eric Hopper, Doug Schenk and Matt Davis, who previously raced a J/105 of the same name. The name comes from a line in the film Caddyshack, and the team believes a happy boat is a fast boat, right down to the "fun-o-metre" in the cockpit. Their road to Hobart has included the Pacific NW Offshore and the Pacific Cup to Hawaii, with four crew in their early 20s aboard.
