Cockatoo is the Volvo 70 that contested the 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race as Team Russia's Kosatka and later became well known on the charter circuit as Monster Project. Her Austrian owner, Johannes Schwarz, is a veteran skipper with more than 250,000 nautical miles offshore. Schwarz runs a fleet of four Volvo 70s, including Green Dragon, taking amateur crews to the world's great ocean races.

Schwarz bought the boat in Sydney in 2019 and refitted her. She raced in the Caribbean earlier this year before heading across the Pacific. Fellow Austrian Thomas Reisinger has chartered her for this race.
