Profile
Ed Psaltis is a stalwart of the race and his Sydney 36 is the latest of his seven iterations of Midnight Ramblers. Originally from Sydney, Psaltis moved to Tasmania in 2019 where he continues to sail successfully.
He comes from one of three-generational families to compete in the famous race, of which he is second generation, and has the distinction of winning the fatal 1998 Sydney Hobart on AFR Midnight Rambler, a Hick 35 and one of the smallest boats in the fleet. With this Sydney 36, he placed second in Division 4 last year and third in Division 4 in 2023, after winning the division and the Corinthian trophy in 2022. He also scored third in Division 4 in 2021.
Psaltis revels in this race and has won every major offshore race on the east coast of Australia.
