Profile
Dr Tony Fisher, one of Australia’s most successful yacht owners of the 1970s and 1980s, made his ocean racing comeback last year with his latest French-designed Helsal which finished the race despite flooding her sail locker. The crew, including son Rob who will skipper the boat south, is looking forward to a quicker and more comfortable passage back to Hobart where the boat is based. Tony’s original Helsal, a ferro-cement boat that was dubbed the ‘Flying Footpath’, took line honours and set a race record in the 1973 Sydney Hobart.
