This will be the third Rolex Sydney Hobart Race for this New Zealand maxi. She finished a close 2nd to Skandia in 2003, but had to retire last year when taking over the lead from the stricken Skandia when she too suffered structural damage in the punishing conditions.
Overall, Konica Minolta has done well on line and handicap, winning the Auckland to Noumea and Auckland to Raratonga races and this year’s New Zealand Coastal Classic in record time. She finished 2nd on IRC in the 2004 Rolex Trophy rating series.
The crew includes top Kiwi sailors such as Gavin Brady, Cameron Ward and Ross Field.
