Profile
Alstar was built and launched in 1965 by owner/skipper Alby Burgin, to coincide with his 70th birthday, and has sailed over 150,000 sea miles in many solo and two-handed yacht races. At 84, Alby is the oldest competitor in this year's Telstra Sydney to Hobart, some say he is the oldest owner/skipper/navigator in the world, still ocean racing. This will be Alby's 31st Hobart race, his best result coming in 1961 when he campaigned his yacht Rival to an overall victory.
