Built originally for the Parmelia Race from Portsmouth to Fremantle, in which she finished fifth overall, Parmelia was raced in Sydney before being bought by Tasmanian Brian Woods. She was one of only 46 yachts to complete the gale swept 1984 Sydney to Hobart and in last year’s race finished 20th across the finish line.
