The owner/skipper has been racing and cruising offshore in New Zealand and Australia since 1954, as helmsman on a variety of yachts. However, this will be his first race to Hobart with this New Zealand designed and built Lidgard design which in 1984 finished second in the IOR division and first under arbitrary handicaps in the Tauranga to Vila race. Double Image raced in the recent Lord Howe Island race, finishing 17th across the line.
