A Jarkan production cruiser/racer designed by Alan Blackburn, Callala is a fibreglass, masthead sloop with a centre cockpit, a layout which generally ensures a dry ride for the crew. Although she had a disappointing Sydney Hobart Race last year, her first attempt, Callala's owner/skipper has had plenty of offshore experience and should be able to improve things this year.
