First race winning crewmember to start 60th Race

The 60th anniversary Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will be started on Boxing Day, 26 December 2004 by Ray Richmond, the sole surviving crewmember of Rani, winner of the inaugural race in 1945.

At 12 noon today, Sydney yachtsman Andrew Short nominated his Volvo 60, Andrew Short Marine, for the 60th anniversary Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. It was the 100th Application to Enter the ocean classic.
