Gweilo upholds recent form to take out CYCA Trophy Race

The CYCA Trophy Race is an important lead-up event for the 2020 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

The 2020 CYCA Trophy Race proved to be a great day of racing over a 24-nautical-mile windward/leeward course from Shark Island out-&-back to a laid mark.

Whilst Christian Beck's super maxi InfoTrack stormed home 20-odd minutes ahead of the other three bigger boats, the chasing pack was not far behind.

IRC Division 1 was dominated by the TP52s who revelled in the conditions with Matt Donald & Chris Townsend's Gweilo taking the honours ahead of Bob Steel & Craig Neil's Quest & Seb Bohm's Smuggler only minutes behind on handicap.

IRC Division 2 saw Carl Crafoord's Cookson 12 Sail Exchange triumph over Les Goodridge's X50 Wax Lyrical & Philip Bennett's John King Custom King Billy.

ORCi was won by Quest with Bill Barry-Cotter's Schumacher 54 Maritimo and Gweilo in second and third respectively.

PHS was won by Maritimo, with Gweilo & Smuggler sharing the podium.

The CYCA Trophy is the final race on the CYCA calendar before the Rolex Sydney Hobart takes centre stage on Boxing Day.
