The latest from the Rolex Sydney Hobart

Seventeen yachts have now crossed the Derwent river finish line with another 15 coming home strong between Tasman Island and Hobart. Showtime trails this fleet and is due in at 1100hrs this morning, if you're in Hobart, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race - Hobart Village is the place to be to welcome in the weary crews, and join the celebrations!

  • Local Tasmanian team Alive still hold top spot in IRC overall with the all-female Wild Oats X second and Voodoo third.
  • the Bureau of Meteorology, however, has recorded a building north westerly since 0200hrs this morning, with winds still increasing at time of writing - much more favourable conditions than the on-and-off 0-10 knots experienced from 2000hrs last night.
  • With classic 'blow home' conditions forming, and plenty of quality yachts still racing such as Grace O'Malley, Enterprise and St Jude, the IRC overall ladder will be the one to watch today.
  • A Notice of Protest has been lodged by the Race Committee against Wild Oats XI. This hearing will take place on Saturday 29 December at 1300hrs at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.
