RACE UPDATE | 1800hours 27 December

The latest from the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

The nail-biting tussle at the top for the coveted line honours victory has continued throughout the day. If anything this contest has only escalated as the four super maxis are now within three miles of each other as they drawer nearer the Tasmanian coastline and their final destination of Hobart. In the overall victory race, Midnight Rambler has had an amazing surge of form during the day to currently hold top spot, with more than 5 and a half hours separating them from the chasing crew aboard Patrice

  • Comanche retains the line honours lead - but only just. Black Jack is behind by a sliver, approximately two miles or just 0.3% of the racetrack!
  • Midnight Rambler is opening up an impressive lead in their battle for the Tattersall Cup, however race favourite Ichi Ban is rapidly climbing back up the ladder after their tumbles during the day
  • Privateer is showing strong form, continually managing to hold onto their IRC 0 divisional lead throughout the day as well as ORCi Division 1.
  • Envy Scooters are also performing well, currently holding out a strong brace of divisional contenders in IRC 1 and ORCi 2 to maintain the lead.
  • Other top performers so far include Patrice (currently in the lead for IRC 2 and ORCi 3) as well as Black Sheep (currently winning their IRC 3 and ORCi 4 divisions) and Pekljus (current PHS leaders).
  • No additional retirements have occurred since our 1200hrs update, leaving the fleet at 81, with four retirements.
