RACE UPDATE | 0000hours 28 December

The latest from the Rolex Sydney Hobart

The battle for line honours is just hours away from closing, but the race is still wide open. After a faster six hours of sailing, the four 100 foot super maxis have been charging down the east coast of Tasmania in increased pressure,  the most they have seen in the past 20 hours. At 0000hrs on 28 December, Comanche retains the lead. While in the race for the Tattersall cup, defending champion TP52 Ichi Ban made made their way to the top of the leader board. Flying Fish Arctos have worked their way up to first in the PHS division. Unfortunately, the Moody 54DS Calypso retired from the race at approximately 2030hrs yesterday, with the fleet now at 80 yachts.

  • Comanche remains in the lead for line honours. This will sure to be an exciting finish with the four super maxis within 11nm of each other. Black Jack remains in second place, right on the heels of Comanche.
  • Ichi Ban has moved into first place overall in IRC to have a two hour margin over race veteran Chutzpah, who have many times placed second overall but never taken the win in the Rolex Sydney Hobart.
  • In ORCi, Ichi Ban is just over 20 minutes ahead of Alive on corrected time.
  • Calypso retired at approximately 2030hrs on 27 December with steering issues. They are making their way to Eden.
  • The fleet is currently at 80 yachts.
