Built in 1997 for the Swedish ‘EF’ syndicate and campaigned by Paul Cayard to victory in the 1998 Whitbread round the world yacht race, the boat was then purchased by illbruck challenge as a training boat for their attempt to win the 2002 Volvo Ocean Race, which John Kostecki and his crew achieved.  In 2002 Kookaburra Challenge took delivery of this famous Volvo 60. Skippering the boat will be silver and bronze Olympic medallist and 12 time world catamaran champion in various classes as well as Australia Yachtsman of the Year, Mitch Booth.  Navigator Julie Hodder is approaching the milestone of 10 races for women.
