Yendys

Yendys

Owner/skipper Geoff Ross bought this champion European IMS boat to win a second Rolex Sydney Hobart (he won in 1999 with his previous Yendys).  In 2003 Yendys placed third in IMS Division A of the Sydney Hobart, but last year, after an extensive conversion to IRC, she was among the large number of retirements after standing by the stricken Skandia in a wild Tasman Sea.  Despite retiring, Yendys and the New Zealand maxi yacht Konica Minolta joined forces as a Kiwi team to win the 2004 Rolex Challenge.

Yendys retired from the 2005 Sydney Mooloolaba Yacht Race in April with a broken gooseneck and in August finished fourth in IRC Division A of the Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, an event dominated by small boats.  Ross again has put together an excellent crew including champion helmsman Sean Kirkjian.

In late October, Yendys won line and IRC handicap honours in the 32nd Gosford to Lord Howe Island ocean race.
