Wild Oats XI

Wild Oats XI

Wild Oats XI is one of four maxis, all built to the maximum LOA of 30 metres, expected to contest the 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart.  Launched late November, Wild Oats XI will be sailed south by a star-studded crew including America’s Cup sailor and world match racing champion Mark Richards, renowned international navigator Adrienne Cahalan, yacht designer and former America’s Cup skipper Iain Murray, Olympian Steve Jarvin, and other international sailors Gary Wiseman, Ian Smith, Alby Pratt and Robby Naismith.

Wild Oats XI features the CBTF (canting ballast twin foil) concept and is the next generation maxi with a leaner hull than Alfa Romeo, which is also aiming for line honours and a new race record.
