Rolex Sydney Hobart Website Tracker Update

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race website late yesterday became embroiled service malfunction on a third party that for four hours prevented the delivery by the CYCA's satellite provider of reports from tracking units on boats.

This meant that whilst position data from boats was transmitted to the satellite the CYCA’s servers were not receiving it.  Fortunately we started receiving position data again during the evening.

A consequence of yesterday's interruption to the receipt of data however is that the latest positions used on the Standings and the Yacht Tracker pages of the Rolex Sydney Hobart website are predicted future positions, rather than the most recent position report from each boat.

To view Standings and Yacht Tracker based on the most recent actual positions all you need to do is this:

Standings - in the drop down menu on the right hand side above the table, select the race time between 10 and 20 minutes prior to the current race time shown in the race clock at the top of the page. For example, at race time 01:16:35:45 select 01:16:20 in the drop down menu.

Yacht Tracker - one of the options on the left hand side of the map is "Race Time". Select that, and then select a race time in the same way as indicated above for Standings. Then select the Show Earlier Time button.

It is anticipated that the legacy issues for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race website caused by the denial of service attack on the third party will be resolved during the morning on Monday 28 December (AEDT).
