Andrea Francolini captures Comanche's first tentative steps in Australia

Andrea Francolini was the first photographer on the ground at Woolwich in Sydney, where the new American super maxi, Comanche, was prepared ready for launching.

The striking red and black Comanche has spent her first days on Australian soil at Woolwich where Wild Oats XI lives, as can be seen in these photos, since arriving from Georgetown via ship last Sunday.

Jim Clark’s state-of-the-art 100 foot yacht is the talk of the town and will be seen sailing over the coming days, including at the SOLAS Big Boat Challenge on Sydney Harbour on Tuesday. She is preparing for the Rolex Sydney Hobart, the first of the big races Clark is bent on racing in around the world.
